Golf

Turnberry’s golf course is truly a jewel in a wonderful setting.  Designed in 1970 by famed course architect, E. Lawrence Packard, Turnberry opened in 1972. Lovingly cared for by our brilliant course superintendent, Jim Evans, it features beauty and challenge for golfers at all levels.  This 6,900 yard, par 72 layout has mature trees, water on 10 holes, elevation changes and plenty of bunkers protecting extraordinarily well-maintained greens.  Our course has played host to several USGA, CDGA and PGA events including the Illinois State Amateur Championship, the Illinois Open, Mid-Amateur Qualifying and US Open Qualifying.  Professionals and amateurs alike have commented on the condition of the course and its wonderful greens which putt true.

The panoramic view from the elevated 11th tee is spectacular and the challenge of making par at the 220 yard 3rd and 544 yard 17th holes are among the many delights of playing Turnberry.
Despite generous fairways and virtual lack of green-front bunkers or water, the greens will demand good shot-making to prevent slick downhill putts or chips from running by the hole. The course ratings and slope are 73.1/137 from the tips, 71.4/133 from the regular tees and 74.0/132 from the ladies' tees.

There is a large practice green and driving range with practice bunker to prepare you for the challenge ahead.  Whether you choose to walk or ride, you won’t need a tee time and you won’t need more than 4 hours to play.  And afterwards you can enjoy our beautiful, recently renovated clubhouse with a drink in the lounge or a gourmet meal prepared by our Executive Chef, Michael Lannon, and his staff.
